Update on "Fred"

To-Do List
So after a bit of drama and a lot of medical attention - there was a cost and a condition that Fred could not leave the vet without being spayed.
Unfortunately Jeanette couldn't afford this. But it turned out that one of the Vet Nurses is taking Fred home and will look after him as a new member of her animal family. So everything has turned out well for this old man.

He had 2 abscesses. One on his face, the other on his front arm. He had several scratches from fights and I may not doubt he might have been the one Fluxx perhaps got bitten by.

Anyway I went to visit Fred after work and gave him some loves and an update on his story.
The nurse assumed he might not be a stray because he is rather affectionate and pretty happy.
But I HAD to get him to the vet with his injury.

Regardless if he does have an owner, assholes do not deserve Fred...he was in poor condition and is going to a proper caring home. I am glad he came to my care or he could have died from infections.

Anyway, I managed to get pix...unfortunately though I am blessed with a multifunctional phone..it has a SHIT camera.
Meet Fred =^..^= )

A life in my hands.

People suck.

Now here is the story behind it...

For the last 2 weeks a stray/abandoned/runaway uneutered elderly male tomcat has been hanging around my house. He sleeps on the front door mat, opens his mouth with a silent meow when you greet him. He is a lap cat, and I have fed him what my cat's dont eat and I have been getting some cheap kittah food for him to keep him fed and put on fat to keep warm for the cold mornings and nights. I haven't given him heaps of attention

...however...

Saturday morning I had some left over tinned stuff Fluxx n Maggie wouldn't touch at all. SO instead of it going to waste I put it out for "Fred" Let's call him Fred.
Right before I dished out, I saw a wound on his face. He was already in not so great shape. He is flea bitten, his skin is dry and scabby. He pretty much looks like a feline hobo :(

I checked him properly to make sure it was what I saw. *sigh* I let him eat and rang the local vet. I took him in and gave them my number and I waited over the weekend about his progress..nothing. I rang them today, he did have an abscess on his face, it was icky. He is an old cat, no microchip, obviously no owners, nobody has put in for lost and found...nothing :(

So during the weekend he has been medicated, fed and sheltered...but now, after todays phone call - his fate for life is in MY hands.

I tried to call the RSPCA, but the shelter is closed.

Here's the deal: if the RSPCA can take him in and re-home him after some care...then I will pick him up and take him so he can live out his days with dignity and care. If they have no space or facility or home for him, he will be euthanised tomorrow after the deadline of 3pm.

So really, pending circumstance, his life is in my hands.

So I will put the call out, could anybody be able to care for an eldery cat who needs some proper TLC?? Because I am a bleeding heart, if the RSPCA can't take him I *MIGHT* care for him until he can be in a full time home. I already have 2 cats...this old boy will need special love and health care...and would need to be kept inside until he is well enough and off medication for the facial abscess...

I will also ring the Cat haven tomorrow and see what they can do...

But please, could anybody want to look after an affectionate old boy and treat him right during his last days?

This breaks my heart that somebody could mistreat an animal or abandon one like this. He is lucky he came to me.

Cat Lady Pride.

Do you miss the old LJ home page that was easier to see and use?

Just type this in: www.livejournal.com/portal

And you get the old home page. I have been using it for ages since the new home page came in a couple years ago...or something. I seemed to have kept the link in my browser tool bar and noticed it is the old LJ home page copared to when clicking on "home" in LJ links.

Then you just drag it into your browser website bar and click when coming on to LJ or refreshing and instead of clicking "home" click the link instead in the browser window tool bar. I hope that made sense?!
Woo.
